Ethic of Excellence Response
I really do like the idea that Ron Berger presents throughout this book in how he establishes the culture in his classroom. It sounds like a very good idea and would want to implement in my classroom but I think it will be difficult to do so especially because so much emphasis is placed on standardized testing now in school. I think it would be difficult to convince some people that it is an appropriate way to teach in your classroom but easiest is usually not the best way.

I really like the idea of portfolios and want to use it in my class. How are we going to do this in math?? What kind of big projects can we incorporate like he uses in his science classes?
ReplyDeleteYa it is kind of difficult to do this in math but am sure it is possible. I know in AP Calc we researched a famous mathematician after the AP exam but that is not like a portfolio that would accumulate throughout the year. We also created pictures using all kinds of trig functions. I really liked both of these things.
